Parish Pastoral Council

The parish pastoral council is a consultative body that assists the pastor in planning, policy development, and decision-making in specific areas concerning parish life. The Pastoral Council meets on the second Wednesday, every other month. In addition to the Executive Committee, the Pastoral Council is divided into seven (7) main commissions: Faith Formation and Spiritual Development, Athletic, Parish Life, Liturgy, Stewardship, INVITE,  and School.


The members of the Parish Pastoral Council are:


Cassie Echegaray,  Chairperson

Cassie joined Little Flower Parish in 1997, after being baptized in the 2nd grade. Cassie attended Little Flower School and graduated from Scecina in 2007. After graduating from Scecina, Cassie went on to Trine University to play collegiate softball. Cassie graduated from Trine in May 2011 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. After working out in the field, Cassie decided to switch career paths and move into teaching. Fr. Bob married Cassie and her husband Kevin on April 5, 2014. Cassie completed the Transition to Teaching program at Indiana Wesleyan in May 2015 and received her teaching license for Elementary 1 – 6. Cassie currently teaches 5thgrade at Little Flower and is pursuing her Masters in School Administration. Cassie and her husband have two children, Franco (4) and Francesca (2). In her free time, Cassie loves playing outside with Franco and Francesca, crafting, and attending sporting events.


Dan Mages, Vice-Chairperson

Dan and his wife Joanne joined Little Flower Parish in 2002. Their son Jacob graduated from Little Flower in 2011 and from Cathedral High School in 2015. Their daughter Caroline graduated from Little Flower in 2014 and from Cathedral High School in 2018. Dan has been involved with the Parish Pastoral Council, the School Commission, the Men’s Club, Christ Renews His Parish, ushering, various capital campaigns, marriage preparation, Cub Scouts, coaching, and the festival. He is an administrative law judge with Social Security.

Pat Brake – Finance Council

Patrick Brake has been a member of Little Flower parish for over thirty five years. He joined the finance committee in 2011 and currently serves as Chairperson. He also served as the finance chairperson of the Little Flower Parish Festival for twelve years. With his wife Pam participated in the marriage preparation program for several years and has been a lector for more than 30 years. Patrick is a certified public accountant with his own firm of Simmons & Brake CPA’s, LLC. He and his wife Pam, a business education teacher at Scecina Memorial High School, have two adult daughters and nine grandchildren. Their daughters and three of their grandchildren all attended Little Flower grade school.

Susan Spilly-Lee – Stewardship Commission

Newly married in 1987, Susan Spilly-Lee and her husband, Frank Lee “found” Irvington and have lived there ever since. They became Little Flower parishioners in 1995 when their daughter was baptized. Three years later, Susan participated in RCIA and joined the Catholic Church and faith. Over the years, Susan has been active in many ministries, a few where her education and experience as a social worker, educator, and meeting and event planner have come in handy! In her free time, Susan enjoys gardening, reading, sports (more watching than playing!), spending time with family and friends, and spoiling their dog, Lola Mae.

Cindy Woods – Invite Commission

Cindy graduated from Little Flower in 1963 and from Scecina in 1967. Cindy earned a B.A. from Purdue University and a M.S. from Indiana University. Cindy has held the following licenses: Teacher, Real Estate Broker, Real Estate Appraiser.

Bernie Sponsel

Bernie joined Little Flower in 2012. Bernie had a 30 year career in various management positions with Deluxe Corporation and Walmart Incorporated in six different states. Currently, Bernie is the Human Resources Manager at the E.M. Company. Bernie and his wife Rose enjoy traveling to visit their five sons and their families that reside in five states and following their favorite sports teams. Bernie is an usher/greeter, member of the Men’s Christ Renews His Parish, Invite Commission, and the Christlife Team at Little Flower.


Elizabeth Mann

Elizabeth Mann has been a member of the parish since 2002. Her mother grew up in the parish, so it felt natural to make Little Flower her parish home when she graduated from college at Purdue and got a job in Indianapolis. The majority of Elizabeth’s career has been in the field of marketing and she has used that experience to help both the parish and school in many different ways. Elizabeth is currently a member of the choir, marketing sub-committee of School Commission, and the Stewardship Commission, and co-chairs the Silent Auction at our annual summer festival. She has recently “retired” from her marketing career to stay home with her two daughters, Mary and Mina.


David Schurger


Kurt Schnell

Kurt is the youngest of six children born to Ralph and Wanda Schnell. All 6 of the Schnell children attended Little Flower grade school. Kurt also attended Scecina High School and graduated in 1985. After graduation he began working in the tool and construction rental industry starting his own company, K & R Tool Shed in 2003. Kurt had his baptism, first communion and confirmation at Little Flower. Fr Vince Lampert married Kurt and his wife Patti on March 28, 1998. Kurt and Patti have two daughters, Cassie and Jessie. They also have two grandkids from Cassie, Mason and Emma. In his spare time, Kurt enjoys his grandkids, live music, motorcycle riding and spending time at his cabin in Owen county.
