While final responsibility for the administration and financial affairs rests with the pastor, this committee is considered a special consultative group for assisting the pastor in developing and maintaining a sound financial plan necessary to carry out the mission of the parish. The members (listed below) are appointed by the pastor. The committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month.
Jim Burks, Chairperson
Jim and his wife Debbie have been members of Little Flower Parish since 1985. Both of their children, Nathan and Kristin, graduated from Little Flower and Scecina. Nathan is currently preparing for his admission into graduate school and Kristin attends Marian University, where Debbie is employed in the Internships & Career Services office. Jim is an Area Manager for Siemens Water Technologies covering the 8 state surrounding area.
For the past 6 years Jim has been Chairman of the Finance Council. In addition, he has been an active member of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel for the past 13 years and has been an usher for the past 5 years. Jim also served as the Parish Council Chairman for 6 years in addition to 9 years on the P.C. as a Committee Chair. Jim also served 5 years on the Education Commission and 3 years as the Men’s Club Treasurer. Jim has been the Chairperson for 2 major capital campaigns and a co-chair for a third campaign.
Patrick Brake has been a member of Little Flower parish for over twenty five years. He was the finance chairman of the Little Flower School Festival for twelve years and with his wife was part of the marriage preparation program for several years. He joined the finance committee in 2011. Patrick is a certified public accountant with his own firm of Simmons & Brake, LLC. He and his wife Pam, a business education teacher at Scecina Memorial High School, have two adult daughters and seven grand children. Two of their grandchildren attend Little Flower grade school.
Tom Burke has been a member of the parish since 1951 when his family moved into the Little Flower neighborhood. He attended Little Flower School, Scecina High School, and the University of Dayton. Tom worked for American Fletcher National Bank and retired from Bank One, now Chase. He is married to Joan and they have three grown children, all graduates of Little Flower. He has previously served on the Parish Council, the School Commission and the Finance Council. Tom currently is a regular volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.
Kevin and his wife Melissa joined Little Flower in 1997 after relocating from Wisconsin. He has 3 children (Lydia, Henry and Walter) all of whom have attended or are currently a student at Little Flower. He is a graduate of Wabash College and works for Travelers Insurance as the Director of Operations for the Great Lakes Region. In this role, he partners with the Finance and Claim Department in operational initiatives such budget review, Audit requirements, staffing and business process improvements for approximately 330 employees across four states.
Jeff Lyons, School Commission representative
Jeff Lyons is an alumni of both Little Flower (’87) and Scecina Memorial High School (’91). He has a Bachelor’s in Nursing and a Master’s in Healthcare Informatics from Indiana University. Jeff’s and Katie Koehl Lyons were married at Little Flower in June 2001. Jeff and Katie have 2 children, Kasey, 5 and Cecilia, 3, who both attend Little Flower and a new baby due in December 2012. Jeff has been involved at Little Flower for a number of years and has coached soccer and baseball. He is now part of the School Commission, Parish Finance Council and Technology Committee. Little Flower is a part of his life and has been for many years. Jeff’s hope is that Little Flower will have the same social, educational and spiritual impact on his children as it did and currently does for him now. Jeff currently works for Community Health Network, where he is a supervisor for a large Information Technology project. Jeff also teaches Nursing Informatics at the University of Indianapolis and owns his own computer repair company. The bond that Jeff and his family have at Little Flower has grown over the last several years and Jeff believes that this bond will continue to be strengthened over the many years to come.
Chris Mennel has been a member of the Finance Council since 2010 and is also a member of the Little Flower Athletic Council. His wife, Julie, is the current 5th grade teacher.
Chris grew up in St. Barnabas Parish and went to Roncalli High School. In his professional life, Chris is a CPA and works in public accounting at Alerding & Co., LLC. He is also serves on the board of directors of Y-Press, Inc.
Julia Wallpe has been in the financial services industry since 1982, spending 24 of those years with A.G. Edwards and Sons before joining Raymond James in December, 2008. She is a third generation member of Little Flower Parish. Her parents, Jim and Jodi Erlenbaugh are parishioners; as well as her daughter Jessica, Jessica’s husband Corey, and their daughter Mya Freudenstein. Julia spends much of her spare time volunteering with various outreach programs. She loves to give both her time and energy in helping others in need.

Dawn Wendel became a member of Little Flower 19 years ago through RCIA at Little Flower. In addition to the Finance Council she serves as an Eucharistic Minister. Married for 28 years and counting, she and her husband Jeffrey have two daughters, Stephanie Wendel-Sponsel and Allison; both graduates of Little Flower and Scecina Memorial High School. Dawn has a Bachelor of Science from Butler University majoring in Journalism and Economics. She received her Masters degree from University of San Francisco in Marriage and Family Counseling. Currently she is a licensed Health Facilities Administrator for Magnolia Health Systems.
