Turning
a New Leaf It is different having a school calendar
and a yearly calendar, they don’t always mix well. However, at the beginning of January, it
is great to start a new quarter and a new year simultaneously. As a class we reviewed rules and procedures
last week, and we discussed that individuals go through self evaluations.
It was interesting and nice to hear what area or skill each student wanted
to work on. I know we will need to keep reminding them and practicing, but
I enjoyed seeing them critique themselves in a positive manner. I would like to personally welcome Jaekob Campbell and Will Barrett to our classroom. The
last few days have been great with you’re here. I hope you grow to love
Little Flower as much as we do. God
Bless, Miss

Light Bulb! To help
build our collection of books on tape, I will be asking for volunteers to record
themselves reading a selected text at home.
I will provide the tape, book, and instructions for recording;
please be sure you have a tape recorder to complete task.
Timed Tests: As
I watched students complete their time tests today, I noticed that many
students are still counting on their hands.
We have discussed test methods to complete these timed tests, but
the best strategy is to know your facts – have them memorized! Each fact
should only take 2 seconds. Please
practice these with students at home and encourage them to complete them
quickly! Hopefully we are all on multiplication by end of February! It is vital for every student to
practice their math facts DAILY in many different ways at home.
Classroom
Review A few revisions and additions to our
procedures in the classroom: -
Boomerang Documentation Signing – Parents will need to sign selected space
on sheet when graded papers are checked and pulled from folder. This will
not be every day, but once a week. There will also be notes about red /
green points and late / missing assignments from that week. -
Homework Policy –
Students who do not turn in work will be expected to work on it during
lunch, sit alone, and have recess taken away. They will also receive an 85%
on the assignment. -
Absentee work
– Students will have the same
number of days absent to complete their missed work. Missing grades will
not be counted against them, but will still need to be collected. - Assignment Books – Parents need to sign
assignment books daily. I sign student books at the end of our day and will
sometimes leave notes about the day. Please check them. Students should
have the responsibility of asking you to sign. The students and I have discussed these
areas and we have created this plan.
Student of the Week: We are on are third student and have had excellent
presentations and sharing from all guests that have come in. The schedule
of students and procedure of the week will be posted on our website for
your reference.
