The Pastoral Associate for Health and Senior Ministries works with the Parish Staff and Pastor as a team to provide support for senior parishioners. While not a nurse, the Pastoral Associate may assist parishioners in a variety of ways.

Visits parishioners in the hospital, in their homes, or in extended care facilities
Assists in obtaining health services
Coordinates volunteers for health ministry, including Christopher, Gabriel and Elizabeth Ministries
Provides health promotion programs and activities
Facilitates development of support groups
Provides a professional listening ear
Offers bereavement support
Helps integrate health and wellness into the liturgical and sacramental life of the community
Acts as a resource to other members of the parish and school staff

Functions of the Pastoral Associate for Health and Senior Ministries

Health educator
Referral source and liaison with community resources
Coordinator of volunteers
Health advocate
Staff liaison for Parish Life Commission

In order for me to effectively do my job, I am going to need your help. I need to know if you are a senior member of our parish and what your needs might be. I realize that this might be very different for each of you, which is why I need your help.

Also, please notify the Parish Center if you are hospitalized or in a nursing home. Hospitals and healthcare facilities no longer routinely inform churches when a parishioner is admitted. Thanks!
